Pass It On, 2020

I created this artwork for my third year studio class. This work was majorly inspired by Covid-19 and the isolation we have been through. I created my piece as a way to prompt the receiver into making their own butterfly and sending it onto another person. After speaking to many of my other friends with disabilities we all expressed how we were feeling a bit hopeless during the isolation as we were cut off from our normal activities. I also spoke with Stephen Atkinson about my ideas and he encouraged me to send my work out to my friend and family as he said it would be a good way to connect during the troubling times. Due to this I thought it could be a good idea to spread a bit of hope and joy during these times. This work is also how I was able to develop into my current work in progress.

As someone who is often descried as wacky, I believe my past work was aimed to stand out and be unusual in the same way that I am myself.
